WE ARE REDEFINING THE SPECTRUM OF GENDER THROUGH NON-BINARY, FORWARD-THINKING AND SUSTAINABLE FASHION.
BEHIND THE SCENE
As a young Dominican immigrant coming to the states at nine years old into the hard cold winter of NYC Washington Heights neighborhood; life’s rough touch was the conductor to many of the survival skills of the now 33 years old Russell A. Peguero gained by coming to America. After learning to draw paper dolls for his sister as a kid his family noticed his ability to design. They pushed and supported his new found skill using Oscar De La Renta as pillar of success and the one to be; eventually leading him to graduate from his first Fashion Design & Merchandising degree in 2009 and recently his second degree from The Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC.
“I found a deeper sense of what I really loved about fashion after learning who Alexander McQueen was, he really opened up my eyes with his design esthetic and inspiration process. In his eyes the garments were not clothes but instead art; it did the same for me. From this moment on I made it my mission to discover my true role in the industry of fashion. That's when I found out I wanted to be a voice for a generation that wants to be free of gender standards and social norms. One who understands their power as consumers and the impact their choices have on the planet.”
LLESSUR, launched September 2020. The collection of an elevated take on a flashy look out in NYC. Though there were luxurious satins, chiffons, pencil strip performance-knits, as well as a vibrant red and muted pink and lots of black; the true takeaways were the small details that each garment possessed, and even the chosen names for each garment. Small accents of chrome metal were seen all through which complemented the sleek and at the same time dramatic silhouettes of some of the garments such as the Dream Sleeve Harness and Clubmaster Smoking Suit. All inspired by hosts personalities around the NYC nightlife including the Dream, Moxy and Standard Hotel. But though the brand continues to collaborate with other artists that speak to a nonbinary and socially conscious consumer; LLESSUR’s true purpose is to conduct immerse industry research on how to bring better products and values to the market and society.
Through a curated selection of sustainable materials and a low carbon footprint by keeping a local production, we are offering products that not only respect the planet but it also speaks to our next generations freedom and way of living.
